BRITISH CHEVENING SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STUDY IN THE UK

This is to bring to your attention the British Chevening Scholarships to study in the UK for 2006.

The British Chevening India programme is open to Indian nationals with a valid Indian passport. The age criteria for most programmes is 25 to 35 years as on 30 November 2005 with a few exceptional programmes where upper age limit is up to 40 years. The scholarships are available to pursue further studies/professional development under the following schemes:

(1) ONE-YEAR MASTERS PROGRAMME at any UK university for scholarships in the fields of sustainable development, economic governance, finance, public administration and science.

(2) SHORT-TERM PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMME – for young, high-flying and dynamic working men and women from among corporate managers and executives, print and broadcast journalists, environmental managers. These are tailor-made courses of up to three months duration at prestigious higher education institutions and appropriate attachments with relevant top industry houses in the UK.

Details of all courses, eligibility criteria, selection process and application forms can be downloaded from the website www.britishcouncil.org.in/scholarships. It can also be obtained from the British Libraries in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Thiruvananthapuram and also from the British Council office in Chennai. Addresses of all the British Libraries and British Council offices are also available on our website.

Closing date for receipt of applications: 30 NOVEMBER 2005
